what is youtubest?
it means "best of youtube" in its users' dictionary.
"youtubest" is an open-ended data-performance that investigates the audience/user profiles in today's contemporary visual culture(s). taking youtube as an organic body, and a sort of continuously changing memory of everyday politics; the project is generating a random sampling data through personal discussions and networks in order to design a collective profile for a everyday youtube user.
youtubest 2007-2008
"youtubest" is an open-ended data-performance that investigates the audience/user profiles in today's contemporary visual culture(s). taking youtube as an organic body, and a sort of continuously changing memory of everyday politics; the project is generating a random sampling data through personal discussions and networks in order to design a collective profile for a everyday youtube user.
as a part of "everyday curating-there is no audience", which is best described as a curatorial research about the artistic practices that (re)produce their performative knowledge through developing new audience profiles -in everyday life situations; "youtubest" is composed of a data of app. 200 videos selected by 20 contributors + 3 live youtube-ing nites (in collaboration with (1) mads radmussen, (2) allen grubesic, (3) başar önal) + a launch event/party.
LAUNCH: First in Taipei 21 JUNE 2008 in acc. with the opening of the exhibition "GOOD GANGSTERS in town" in Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei (www.goodgangsters.com)
p.s. posts are titled as the name of their contributer / their subtitle (if there is any) and by the number of videos which have been still available during the last six months, so called; SURVIVOR videos / the TOTAL number of videos selected.
